I kept thinking of things that would make neat T-shirts, especially things I hadn't seen before, yet didn't have the time to illustrate them beyond a rough outline. Then came the AI image rendering revolution and suddenly I was able to take a sketch to a final product design in a couple of days.
Most of the artwork usually starts as AI generated art from my husband's or my prompts, then we do a reverse image search to make sure it's not stealing someone's style/art. Then I spend a day or longer reworking it in illustrator and Photoshop to reach my final idea, and make it printable, especially on fabric (I have two decades of prepress experience.) Then I create the final design. Some are my own design from scratch, but they took a lot longer.
I've found I can describe what I want including the style (illustration, watercolor, anime, etc.) and do a bunch of AI generations to get something that's about 60% of the way there. That way I spend time on the details I want to focus on. Also often the AI shows me something I hadn't thought of which spurs a bunch of new ideas.
We've been making a point to not reference a specific artist's style or artwork, so if you see something that's not right let me know and I'll get on it.
